Queering Delaware History

Description

This talk will explore the first state's earliest queer history, from the late 1890s to the 1980s. Queer Historian Carolanne Deal (she/they) will share their research into queer civil rights, pioneering lesbian activists, a Newark gay bar, and more.

Speaker Bio: Carolanne Deal (she/they) is a museum professional and Delaware queer historian. They are the creator of @DelawareQueerHistory on Instagram and were the lead researcher on the LGBTQ+ History of Delaware Research & Digital Engagement Project.
