On April 23, 2024, the U.S. Department of Labor announced a final rule, defining the exemptions for different professional roles which will take effect on July 1, 2024. The final rule updates and revises the regulations issued under section 13(a)(1) of the Fair Labor Standards Act implementing the exemption from minimum wage and overtime pay requirements for executive, administrative, and professional (EAP) employees. These changes include increases to the standard salary level and the highly compensated employee compensation thresholds.  Nonprofits have a unique consideration on determining which employees are eligible for overtime based on the type of “business” they conduct. About the speaker:

Elizabeth began her career at the Wage and Hour Division, Philadelphia District Office as an Investigator in 2010, conducting investigations under the Fair Labor Standards Act, Family Medical Leave Act, government contract regulations (Davis Bacon Act & Service Contract Act), Migrant & Seasonal Worker Protection Act, and H-1B and H-2A visa labor standards. After serving as a federal investigator for six years, she became a Community Outreach Specialist in 2016. This role is focused on delivering educational outreach to employers and workers, fostering relationships with various area stakeholders, and developing strategic initiative plans.
