About the Speaker
Jason Smith serves as a Chief of Fiscal and Policy Analysis for the nonpartisan Office of the Controller General of the Delaware General Assembly. In this role, Jason is honored to offer expert-level fiscal and policy guidance to legislative finance committees by directing and managing the development and production of the annual operating, capital, and grants-in-aid budgets. Jason also coordinates the General Assembly’s efforts in crafting the yearly Grants-In-Aid Act, which provides direct funding to over 400 non-profit community, veteran, and senior center organizations that offer vital activities, programs, and services directly to Delawareans. Before joining the legislature, he served in a variety of roles in both the executive and judicial branches of state government over the past thirteen years. Jason earned a Master of Business Administration from Wilmington University and a BS degree from the same institution. When he is not busy reviewing legislation, drafting fiscal notes or policy recommendations, he enjoys listening to podcasts, traveling, exploring Delaware’s Beaches and state parks, culinary adventures, and rewatching "The Office".
